16-year-old Australian boy knocked unconscious riding hoverboard on Christmas Day

On Dec. 25, a 16-year-old boy was knocked unconscious while attempting to ride his new toy on Sydney's northern beaches.   It was believed the boy had a serious head injury, so he was rushed by ambulance to a Careflight helicopter. He began to recover on arrival, and was instead transferred to a local hospital in the ambulance.
"He began to revive just as the specialist CareFlight doctor and intensive care paramedic were about to begin urgent treatment for an isolated head injury," . His current condition is not known.

After the boards were banned on the streets of New South Wales, Australia's industry regulator, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) issued a warning about riding safely during Christmas. Keen boarders were advised to deck themselves out in protective gear, such as a helmet, kneepads and elbow pads.
