Bill Cosby
has broken his silence after facing sexual assault charges to thank his
fans and friends, in what was his first tweet in months.
The
comedian, who is accused of drugging and indecently assaulting Andrea
Costand at his Philadelphia mansion in 2004, faced a torrent of abuse
online after posting the message.
Cosby, 78, tweeted the message to his 4.1million followers on Thursday, just a day after he appeared in court.
Despite his
fall from grace, Cosby has gained a million followers in the last year -
but that did not stop scores of people from slamming him after his
'thank you' tweet on New Year's Eve.
Dozens
of people blasted Cosby and said they would be unfollowing the
comedian, who on Wednesday flew from Philadelphia to his grand estate in
Pennsylvania.
However, some devoted fans said they had not given up on him and said they appreciated his thanks.
